You may have heard of Cape Wine, presented every 2 years by Wines of South Africa (WOSA) to showcase the best of the South African wine industry. It is the most successful international wine trade show in the southern hemisphere.
This year it will run alongside a new show, Vindaba, which will highlight South Africa’s fantastic wine tourism. Vindaba gives tour companies and wine estates the chance to showcase who they are and what they offer through exhibitions, seminars, one-on-one meetings and tailor-made tours to our beautiful wine routes. Vindaba represents a partnership between Wines of South Africa (WOSA), SA Tourism and Cape Town Tourism, as well as the SA Wine Routes Forum and WESGRO, and will form part of a long-term strategy to boost wine tourism to the country.
The shows are also (happily) being given a “green” focus for 2012 – delegates will stay in hotels within walking distance of the event and can purchase trees to be planted in the winelands after the show. Recyclable products will be used wherever possible, and locally produced food will be served which will help to reduce transport emissions and create a theme of sustainability throughout the event.
Although Vindaba has been conceived as a stand-alone event it will run concurrently with Cape Wine at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), and delegates will be welcome at both events. Show dates are 25 to 27 September 2012.
The Tourist’s Friend offers tours to the Cape Winelands at any time of year, so if you can’t make the show you don’t have to miss out. Contact us now for more information or to book a tour or transfer.
